Making The Most Of College

I was just reading the book Making the Most of College by Richard J. Light. He's faculty at Harvard, so maybe i'll meet him. In his book he writes:

"83 percent of undergraduates are required to hand in at least sixty pages of work, final draft, in an academic year. The sixty pages is a lower bound. A large fraction of students hand in well over a hundred pages" (58).

Good thing these data exclude science concentrators... few... :)

I'm sure I'll still write a lot though. Yippee! I enjoy writing about things that interest me, so I'll just make sure that the courses I sign up for have cool assignments as well as interesting writing assignments if any.

I definitely want to get better at writing and communicating because I want to sell many of my own eBooks and published books over the internet and in book stores.

Since I am a very practical person, as long as i can make connections between course work and things outside of school, i'm happy. This is what Light recommends in his second chapter, 2 Powerful Connections.

My Goals for Today

1. Finish Cleaning Room
-I've come a long way! My room is now SPOTLESS!!! Plus, I even cleaned up other areas of my life. For example, my music/ipod and my phone contact list. There are just a few more things I'd like to organize.

2. Work Out at the YMCA.

3. Start making at least $100/day.

My Goal for Today

My #1 Goal today is to clean my room.

I did a lot before going to play hockey at the Bridgeport Wonderland of Ice. I went there for stick time. They have stick time there M-F 1-2pm. When I got there, I noticed they now have TWO RINKS!!! I played on the old one, but the new one looks SICK. and the old one was really nice this time. I mean, it was hard nice ice. No puddles. But then again it is winter time and it was cold outside. The true test will be in the summer time.

Keep it unreal.

Bits & Pieces: The Magazine That Motivates The World

While cleaning my room, I found the December 2006 issue of Bits & Pieces and I decided to list the quotations here that I like and can currently relate to:

These motivate me to start making real progress on accomplishing my goals.
"An inch of progress is worth more than a yard of complaint."
-Booker T. Washington (1856-1915), Educator and activist

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world."
-Desmond Tutu, Cleric and civil rights leader

This motivates me to clean my room and to get a new house of my own. Cleaning my room is one of the steps to getting my own house because a clean room will make it much easier to pack all my things. And I don't want to leave my mom with a messy room either. Because when I get my own house, I want her to be able to use my room as a guest room. Another step is generating a substantial income flow so that I can buy my own house. My goal is to buy a house near Detroit that I've had my eye on. It's petite, comfortable, inexpensive, and in a great area.

"A comfortable house is a great source of happiness. It ranks immediately after health and a good conscience."
-Sydney Smith (1771-1845), Cleric and writer

"If you are really thankful, what do you do? You share."
-W. Clement Stone (1902-2002), Entrepreneur and motivational writer

"Seek those who find your road agreeable, your personality and mind stimulating, your philosophy acceptable, and your experience helpful. Let those who do not, seek their own kind."
-Jean-Henri Fabre (1823-1915), Entomologist

Okay. I'm going to get back to cleaning my room and stay focused.

Keep it unreal.

Back On Track

Okay, I've had a TON of things on my goal list recently.

Yesterday, I found the site www.43things.com. I signed upas "BlissVibes" if you wanna check out the goals I put up.

I love the site. It's a great idea. But I decided I'd ratherput my goals up here and actually DO them.

Cause I've had a few goals that I've been wanting to do foralmost a year now... and I just haven't done them.

That's RIDICULOUS!!! [frustration]. Honestly thoughThat's just UNACCEPTABLE.

So, I decided that I am posting my goals on here. And I am Doing them!

Here goes! :)

Oh, I remember now. While I was brushing my teeth, I remember I was thinking that if I just convinced myself that being good with women really isn't that important. Like who cares? Then I could get on with the more important things in my life. Cause meeting women really isn't that important. Let's move on. I want to get rich!

After viewing AM Part II - III

That part where Style says some of the pebbles...

OMG!!!! I totally get flirting now! It's like you're challenging the girl. Verbal sparing, push-pull... Shit...

Here are some examples...

"Lauren, I eat girls like you for breakfast!" Said enthusiastically and with a big smile on your face. I practiced in the mirror to make sure I pull it off playfully and fun and not as threatening. This line is especially good after she challenges you.

I can remember a good time that I could've used it earlier. As I was leaving a set, one of the girls (all being around age 27 compared to my age 21) said, "Come back in 10 years." I just responded with yeah, and a pound. But, now I can see that responding with a chuckle and saying, "What's your name again?" (I had forgotten her name and also creates a pull... cause snapping back at her comment right away could have created some unwanted adversity.) Then, after she were to tell me her name I could've responded with the above line: "[Her name], I eat girls like you for breakfast!"

Then, if she retaliated, saying she eats guys like me for lunch, I'd say, "Well, I'm full... so, don't get all scared."

It's all about challenging them... like, "you got nothing!" "you think you hot shit with your pumps? Uhun missy! You best get yourself some REAL pumps. Some nice rebok pumps!"

Then you just be like, "aight lets take this outside" then pull her away from her friends.

Other lines that escalate flirting are: "I'd break your heart and end up hooking up with your friends."

If she's really retaliating good, you can be like, "Oh, you are trouble! I can't talk to you. You're the girl that my mom's been warning me of this whole time."

That's my frame now. I eat girls like you for breakfast! haha. Girls got nothing. What's a girl that looks good... she just got lucky in the gene pool... so what? what does she really got going for her? good looks alone are not enough! I need a woman with good looks and a cool personality. someone who can joke around and shit.

Sometimes, instead of playing back, girls try to deny your accusations. If they ever denied something I was just joking around about, I now know that they were taking me seriously and I must've not smiled enough ect... here's the thing though... if they were like, "oh, no I'm not that much trouble..." or they denied any of my (meant-to-be) playful accusations I used to say, "oh, okay, okay..." (Almost like I was apologizing for having said what I said... But that's totally joining their frame!!! and being wussy!) Now, I say, "Yeah... suurrree..." etc. and hold my frame. If they say, "oh, no I'm not that much trouble," I can say... "Yeah... surrree... look at that. you're already lying to me already. that's trouble right there lady!"

Basically, if girls give you any kind of negative response, hold your frame. Bust on them even more. Hold it. Don't switch to their frame.

I want to get great at flirting in a joking way. I totally understand this now. If you're comfortable when you're poking fun and you just don't care... you're money. You have to be funny though. She has to be smiling. Calibrate it!

Also, obviously, flirt sparingly. all you need to do it is like once and you've sparked it. then let her spark it at a later time. If you're doing all the flirting that's not good.... obv...

shit... this is money...

Aight, I'm out. Happy Pimpin.

P.S. There was something else I was thinking about today in the car ride to drop off a audio program at the library. What was it? hmmm... I'll remember it later... I have to go to bed now.

Hello World!

This is my first blog posting ever! Yay!!!
